There is something lovely about watching a bag take shape, one stitch at a time. Evening Glow Veil brings together soft, pale texture, darker strands and little glimmers of sparkle.
In this short film, I share a glimpse of my hands at work, the details coming together and the finished bag with its matching shoulder strap. A little of the making, before it is ready to carry.

The final piece in the Veil trio
Morning Forest Glow completes my trio of Veil bags. Old nets find a new life alongside raffia yarn and green metallic thread, bringing a little sparkle to their soft texture. The handles are made from milk bottles, thoughtfully reimagined as part of the finished piece.
The pinecones hold a memory of their own: gathered on a forest walk with my son, they bring a little of that shared time in nature into the bag. Familiar materials and a treasured moment, made into something to carry forward.

A Carry Forward inspiration piece
Family textiles, patiently worked by hand and connected through glimmers of silver.
This bag began with yarn made from one of my old hijabs. I worked it together with natural raffia and silver metallic yarn, allowing the deep black, warm brown and flashes of silver to build its textured form.
The handles began as curved bottom sections cut from my son’s old PE shirts. I wrapped them carefully with raffia and silver yarn, transforming a familiar part of family life into something strong enough to carry forward.
The removable shoulder strap combines more of the old-hijab yarn with raffia, wrapped with silver metallic thread. A reclaimed cardboard base, covered with fused plastic, gives the bottom of the bag added structure and function.
One-of-one and made slowly by hand, Silver Threads reflects the heart of Carry Forward Commissions: meaningful materials connected into a new story, made to be used and carried.
