The Gilded Tide Shell Bag
Created from three garments that had become worn and were reaching the end of their useful lives: my youngest son’s former PE trousers; the bottom section of his PE shirt, reimagined as the handles; and my second-youngest son’s black T-shirt. Raffia and metallic yarn elevate the familiar fabrics into the Gilded Tide Shell Bag, preserving the memories held within them while giving each garment a beautiful new route.

Gilded Veil
Bag
A gift from a friend, reimagined into something to carry.
These old net curtains were given to me by a friend. I cut them into yarn and crocheted this bag, adding brown raffia, metallic threads and sequin yarn for a little shimmer.
The handles are made from milk bottles, wrapped only in brown raffia, and I added a magnetic closure.
I love seeing what everyday materials can become. This one carries a little friendship too.

Personalised gifts, inspired by the memories you hold close.
These gifts began with my own family—a stone our son found on an outing, an orchid from a plant I received for my birthday, pits from my husband’s favourite olives, and a promise to him.
I turned the stone into a key chain, adding beads, dark wrapping and a handwritten note telling its story. A small reminder of time spent together, made to be carried.
Alongside it, I created a promise note for a family gift towards my husband’s Umrah journey. I used my homemade paper, backed with paper from an upcycled envelope, and decorated it with the birthday orchid, handwritten words and gold details. Something given to me became part of something I could give with love.
To complete the set, I made tasbeeh prayer beads using pits from his favourite olives as the main counting beads. I painted and sealed them, then added golden spacer beads—a familiar part of everyday life, thoughtfully transformed into something for his moments of remembrance and prayer.
Together, these pieces reflect the heart of Carry Forward Commissions: taking materials that mean something to you and thoughtfully creating something personal from them.
